REVISED Liaison Process for new Year 7 students starting 2022
Our 2022 Prospectus and a link for online enrolments was distributed via contributing schools early in Term 3; we asked that families complete our online enrolment form (or return a completed hard copy with supporting documents to their Primary School) by the due date of 25 August 2021.
Term 4 is when we are normally in full swing of the transition for our incoming students, and it is our intention to make your child's transition to our school as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. Due to the unusual circumstances with fluctuating alert levels and the uncertainty surrounding this, it means that our normal transition events for our incoming students will need to look different. We place a lot of emphasis and importance on transitions for our incoming students and have spent some time working out the best way to proceed given these uncertain times.
We have made these decisions so that we are able to put our energy into planning and implementing the events, and into supporting the health and safety of our incoming students, staff and community. We would like to communicate this information with you at this early stage so that you are informed and prepared for what the transition events will look like. These decisions were made based on recommendations and directives from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health.
2021 Transition Events
- Year 6 Orientation Days - Cancelled due to alert level uncertainty and restrictions around numbers of visitors on site.
- Meet the Teacher Evening - Cancelled due to alert level uncertainty and restrictions around numbers of visitors on site. Later in January we will look to hold an ‘open session’ with students and families able to pop in to meet their new teacher. More information will come out closer to the time (restrictions allowing).
- Visits to Contributing Schools - We hope to visit our local contributing primary schools before the end of the term (once we are back in Alert Level 2). At this visit we will be bringing back current CMS students from each contributing primary school and will hold a Q and A session with the Year 6 students.
- Class Lists - these should be available at your child's contributing school in early December. If students are still unable to be onsite at primary school, we will advise class placement via email to their contributing school or directly to families. CAMBRIDGE MIDDLE SCHOOL ZONING
Our school enrolment zone came into effect effective from 01 January 2021. Below is the confirmed zoning area for Cambridge Middle School (EZ = Enrolment Zone, TEZ = Transport Entitlement Zone). The confirmed boundary now brings the zone down to the Pukemoremore Road/Victoria Road intersection, travels east along Pukemoremore Road (includes Lang Road) to the intersection with Scotsman Valley Road, turns right into Scotsman Valley Road - the zone ends at number 491 Scotsman Valley Road (includes Scotsvale Drive).
Our Prospectus and link for online enrolments for 2022 will been sent out to contributing schools in Week 1 of Term 3 2021. If families appear to be out of zone, they are welcome to call us; we do advise those families to submit an online enrolment form (or send a completed hard copy form to us) by the due date of 25 August 2021. We will then contact out of zone families with information about our set capacity and ballot numbers and procedures.
